About Us
Together For a Better Life (TFB) is a registered charity, founded in February 2016 in Glasgow by individuals from Africa and the Middle East. TFB’s vision is to empower our community to lead dignified lives in the UK.
TFB is a grassroots organisation, led by the community and shaped by lived experience. This ethos is reflected in our governance, management, and staffing: all trustees, staff, and volunteers are from the community and involved at every stage of our projects. We use a participatory approach, placing service users at the centre of planning, implementation, and evaluation.
TFB employs a human rights-based approach and collaborates with organisations that advocate for disadvantaged individuals. Our focus is on groups disproportionately affected by poverty and social isolation.
TFB draws on its collective experience and expertise to support individuals and community-based organisations in developing skills, strengthening systems, and improving services.
What we do
TFB’s mission is to combat poverty in the community by improving employability and financial independence, building confidence and self-esteem, raising awareness about opportunities and facilitating their utilisation, and enhancing social cohesion.
Our core activities include developing employability skills, advocacy, and awareness raising. We offer English courses in partnership with Clyde and Kelvin Colleges, provide computer training, and refer individuals to employability specialists. Through our advocacy project, we assist with a range of issues, from daily living skills to more complex challenges such as Violence against Women and Girls (VAWG). We respond promptly to phone and WhatsApp inquiries, offering immediate support and scheduling appointments as needed. We also deliver education on topics such as the social system, poverty prevention, mental health, VAWG, gender roles, parenting, child protection, nutrition, and hygiene.
