Open the Door: Migrants Facing Financial Disadvantage and their Needs for Support

This research and policy project, led by Migration Policy Scotland in 2024, examines the financial challenges facing Scotland’s largest group of working migrants, including those with EU settled or pre-settled status, work or study visas, their dependents, and individuals with Indefinite Leave to Remain. As this group represents a significant and growing part of Scotland’s population and workforce, their experiences of poverty and vulnerability require urgent attention. Although these issues have broad implications, they are often overlooked. The research provides key findings and policy recommendations. For more information, please refer to the full report here.
